This week for science we walked down to Bark River in the cold and took some samples of the water to test the pH levels and the hardness.  We also walked up to North Campus and went to the art room up there and made a poster about are water project were doing.  We also made crystal shapes out of clay and glazed them.  We got a new teacher too.

This week in the Academy we were mostly in the science room and art.  In science class we each got a partner and made a crystal together.  After that we were taught about compounds, elements ect.  We also had a lab were we had to make a chart and right a paragraph or two on science methods.  In art we finished drawing are pictures and now are on a way to making a clay project into shapes!  In Social studies we had a couple of tests that were extremely hard.  And saving best for last in my favorite teachers class we are learning about elements of literature.  And we just started learning about Of Mice and Men.  We watched a movie on it about John Steinbecks life.

This week for the ILA we learned about fragment sentences.  We also finished are constitution that we all wrote together.  I thought that we did a pretty good job on that.  We also went on careercruising.com and chose a career that you would might want to be in the future.  Once we picked a career we had to research that career and see how english, science, social studies, and art all related to the career we pick.

weekly blog 11/1/11

This week we went to the apple store to learn which device is better for a 1 to 1 learning in the future.  We asked questions on which electronic is better to use for are academy class or just in general, for school.  We learned new facts about the store and the portable electronics.  We chose the IPad 2 as are best choice.  Then we got to go in the back of the store and learn about the workers and more information.  Then we finally got to go eat at the food court and get Rocky Rococos!

I learned how to respond to a project in the right format. We practiced doing that by commenting on each others blogs and tell them whats good and what needs to be fixed.  We went to the mall and learned about Apple products like I pods, I phones, I pads, and Laptops.  We did this to compare them and to see which ones would be best for one to one learning.

Product Testing

The purpose of the product testing was to figure out which cologne smells better and which one is more fresh.  The one that most people were attracted to I will wear.

We learned how to write references for ms. Miller.  We were also taught how to not copy right someone else's quote or their words.  Mr. Mechinec taught us how to right hypothesis's in a proper way it's supposed to be.  But we mostly learned how to work with partners because we this week we have this big project that has a lot of homework that we have to work together.
